Carl is a designer/maker of machines, furniture, boats and software, and the former president and chief executive officer of Autodesk. He originally joined Autodesk when it acquired Ithaca Software, which he co-founded to commercialize HOOPS, a 3D graphics system. He also cofounded Buzzsaw, which was also acquired by Autodesk. Bass has served on the Board of Directors of Autodesk, HP Inc., Zendesk, Planet, VELO3D, Alpha Ring, Formlabs, Box, and Built Robotics, as well as numerous nonprofits. He also serves as an advisor to many companies including Alphabet and Autodesk as well as many start-ups.
